Karma and Christianity
The concept of karma is very popular now. Many people say "what goes around comes around, meaning you get what you give. This seems to be a blend of the Hindu belief called karma and the biblical statement; "whatever a man sows so shall he reap."
The traditional Hindu belief called karma says you'll get rewarded according to how you live. If you live well in this life you will be reincarnated at a higher level and if you do poorly, you will be reincarnated at a lower level. This assumes that reincarnation is true. The bible states "it is given for a man to live once and then the judgement." This doesn't leave any option for reincarnation. You only have to go through one lifetime on this Earth then God will judge you according to your works unless you accept His free gift of salvation. Then you are under His grace (undeserved favor.) Karma leaves no room for the grace of God. Anyone who is truly rewarded according to his or her actions will spend eternity in hell. I would not wish this on my worst enemy.
Unless you accept God's free gift you will reap as you sow. "For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ, our Lord." (Rom. 6:23) Give me grace, not karma.
