Ever wonder who all these people who are telling you the current health care reform legislation is going to hurt you are really trying to help? It's not you or me.
The ones who benefit from the current health care system are the insurance companies. They deny coverage to a lot of people, deny legitimate claims and drag out the payments they do make.
Unfortunatly, the Republican members of the Senate are trying to help the insurance industry, not the American people. their only suggestion for improving health care is tort reform. They want to make it harder for you to sue medical practicioners when they do something wrong that causes you trouble. How does that help you? It doesn't, it only helps the insurance industry.
So, what should we do? Just let the status quo continue? We're getting rationed care now, rationed by the insurance industry, rationed to help their profits, not the people they insure.
This needs to stop. The insurance industry needs to be made responsible for the bad results they cause. The many needless deaths and needless suffering that's currently going on. The legislation in the Senate will not perfectly do this but it's a huge improvement over the current system.
What can you do about it? write your senator and let him/her know that you don't want the insurance industry to continue to deny legitimate claims or deny coverage to people in need of medical care.
